Dad Explains His Sister's Nickname: "La Chata"

Dad's sister, Noemi, sent a birthday card last week and I read it to him. His sister signed off using her nickname, "La Chata." I asked Dad who gave her that nickname and what does it mean. His reply are recorded in the following short video:

Here is a photo of Dad holding the card from "La Chata:"

According to Dad's nurse, he is doing as well as can be expected. Late evenings are his best times when he tries to get up and walk around (with assistance). He is eating most of his breakfast, but lately seems to not want to eat lunch. He has also been very cooperative when it is time for a shower (this is a huge change as he is usually very resistant!).

That's for this update. Maybe La Chata can confirm how she got the nickname?

  1. I received the following information from my Aunt Noemi about the source of "La Chata"

Hi "folks"!! I just got to hear David's video explaining how I got the nickname "La Chata". I can't say that I remember exactly when I was first called that (at what age) all I know is that sometimes I'd gett kidded (never bullied) about my nickname but I was too young to even know who had started to call me that. Later on in my teenage years I didn't really care for people outside of the family to know what my nickname was, especially since I didn't have the luxury of having a "nose job" back then!! Now in my old age, I realize that it was my dear father who started calling me that, as my mother told me once, "Your father noticed that when you were born you hardly had a nose" or so they thought!!! Anyway, whatever the reason, the nickname stuck and only my siblings and parents knew me by that "extra" nickname, everyone else knows me a "Mimi". And oh yes, Janet, Jay's mom, ALWAYS called me "Chata".
And that's about all I can remember that nickname that stuck to me to this day. The last persons to call me that I'm sorry to say, one was my beloved sister Rachel who died in 2009 and my beloved brother David who is still with us. My living siblinbgs all call me Naomi or Mimi.
Thank you Jay, it's so wonderful to hear my brother's voice.
Love you all!! "La Chata", aka Tia Mimi
